Dr. Chengbo Yang is Professor, Associate Department Head, and Director of T.K. Cheung Centre for Animal Research in the Department of Animal Science, University of Manitoba. Dr. Yang completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Nanjing Agricultural University in 2000 and 2003, respectively, and obtained his Ph.D. in monogastric animal nutrition from the University of Guelph in 2011. Following several years in the industry, he joined the University of Manitoba in 2016, where he has built a highly productive and internationally recognized research program focused on gut health and nutrient utilization in non-ruminants. Dr. Yang has secured over $13 million in research funding as PI and co-PI from NSERC, the Canada Foundation for Innovation, USDA, Swine Clusters, and other agencies. He has published 124 peer-reviewed scientific publications with a cumulative H-index of 46 and holds two patent applications. He has trained a total of 72 highly qualified personnel (HQPs), spanning high school students, undergraduates, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research associates. Dr. Yang has an extensive record of service to his profession. He has served on numerous editorial boards including Animal Nutrition, Journal of Animal Science, and Canadian Journal of Animal Science. He has also served on numerous scientific and industry committees including the Manitoba Swine Seminar Planning Committee and the Canadian Society of Animal Science (CSAS) Executive (Western Director and Membership Chair). In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Dr. Yang has received numerous prestigious awards, including the 2018 CSAS Young Scientist Award, the 2023 CSAS Technical Innovation in Enhancing Production of Safe Affordable Food Award, the 2018 Terry G. Falconer Memorial Rh Institute Foundation Emerging Researcher Award, and the 2019 University of Manitoba Merit Award in Research. Dr. Yang serves on the editorial boards of three journals, including the Canadian Journal of Animal Science and the Journal of Animal Science, and has served on the CSAS Executive Committee. He is a dedicated organizer of workshops, symposia, and conferences for both research and industry communities.
